UCHS hires Rob Stowe as new Head Football CoachBy Todd Forrest Former Wilcox County and Gilmer head coach Rob Stowe will take the helm of Union County football following his approval at Thursday’s Union County Board of Education meeting.Stowe, who brings more than two decades of coaching experience to Blairsville, becomes the 15th head football coach in the program’s 67 years, replacing Michael Perry, who departed for Flowery Branch in January.Stowe, a Toccoa native, comes to Union County by way of Wilcox County, where he compiled a 50-24 record in six seasons, headlined by back-to-back region titles in 2021 and 2022, and a State semifinal appearance in ‘21.In addition to Wilcox, Stowe served as the head coach of Gilmer from 2003-2006, going 7-33. He also worked as an assistant coach/defensive coordinator at Rabun County and Stephens County.“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Stowe to Panther Nation,” said Union County Athletic Director Mandy Hunter. “His ability to build competitive programs, develop student-athletes, and foster a culture of excellence – both on and off the field – makes him the perfect fit for our football program, and we are excited for the future of Union County football under his leadership.”Additional info will be available in the upcoming edition of the North Georgia News. |
